Street Power Champions are people who want to bring renewable energy to their community, with the support of team POP. They connect with their neighbours in-person and online, with content and conversation, organising events and informal catch-ups.
With POP-provided resources, Street Power Champions guide their neighbours for their first steps towards renewables.

What does a Street Power Champion do?
Our Street Power Champion initiative works with the “low floors, wide walls, high ceilings” concept. That means:
Floors low enough that anyone can access. There are no minimum requirements; this fits around your life.
Walls wide enough that you bring your own style. We offer support but won’t hold you back from trying your own way.
Ceilings so high that your imagination is the only limit. Got everyone on your street onto solar? Great, let’s go for the next street. And the next. And the next.
We recommend you start simple. Join or start a local group, forum or chat, and share some information. Knock on your neighbours doors, pop a postcard over.
As interest grows, bring people together. We have event formats (open houses, presentations) with resources. You can request a member of the POP team to talk about our offering or the tech.
You’ll send interested neighbours our way: directing them to request a proposal or capturing their details. Once there’s a couple of proposals out, we can run another webinar to explain them.
For every installation you generate on your street, we reward you with a percentage. You can take the cash, put it towards your own system, invest it in another neighbour’s system, or donate it to a community project - whatever suits you.

Why use Street Power Champions?
Street Power Champions are central to our street-by-street approach and philosophy. We want to put people first in energy, and that starts at home.
We believe in supporting communities to keep their money invested in their homes and local area, instead of sending it to fossil fuel companies. No one knows a community better than the people living in it - so why reinvent the wheel?
More people are interested in renewables than you may believe; people are often unsure of where to start, and scared to venture into the unknown.
The power of taking action together as a street is made clear by the impact of our friends at Power Station. When neighbours collaborate, they kickstart action. Moving forward, collectively. No one needs to worry about being the first, or sticking out - you’re in it together. By taking this step to cheaper energy bills together, you help us keep our costs down - a saving we pass on.

How POP will support you
We have a virtual space that has a list of resources available to you: postcards, posters, presentations, and content for social media or messages. We provide some printed assets, and are open to your ideas (or leaving you to it). We also have event formats you can use to support your organising efforts.
More than resources - we are building a community. We run two calls a month: one as an onboarding and catch-up session; one where we share a deep dive on topics like our message, our kit or flexible energy markets. These sessions are two-way conversations. We want to hear what’s working, what isn’t, and stories from different Streets. As a small team ourselves, your contributions will help us support you and your neighbours even further.
In the longer term, we are building a virtual community platform to bring Street Power Champions together from across communities. Stay tuned!
In summary
Becoming a Street Power Champion means being part of something bigger. By supporting your neighbours on this journey you are accelerating renewable energy, keeping local money in your area, and supporting a cleaner, cheaper and more resilient future.

Eager to bring renewable energy to your street? Apply to become a Street Power Champion , or reach out to hello@pop.energy if you have any further questions and we’ll get back to you soon.
What time commitment is needed as a Street Power Champion?
It’s totally up to you. You’ll get out what you put in, so we recommend setting aside around 2 hours a week (but that’s more to make it a habit, than a strict guideline). Different activities take different time - flyering a small street may be fairly quick, while organising a coffee morning or open house might take a bit more effort.
Do I need technical knowledge about energy systems to be a Street Power Champion?
Not at all. We do ask that you have an interest in renewables, and we can answer all your questions and explain how it all works, but no technical background is needed at all.
Do Street Power Champions receive support and materials from POP?
Absolutely yes! We will send you a welcome pack with some materials, and can top you up with printed assets on request. There is also a full set of online resources you can access and use, such as social media images, event format outlines, and more.
How do I share who is interested in renewables on my street with POP?
You can either send them to this form, or pass on their name, email address, and street address to us (with their consent). We will know they’re someone you’ve spoken to based on that street address.
Is the Street Power Champion a sales role?
No - you aren’t selling POP to your neighbours. You’re sharing information about what we do, and building the feeling of collective action - we come in to look after the sales process once you’ve sent people our way.
Is there a referral reward for Street Power Champions?
Yes - as a thank you for engaging your neighbours, we offer a referral for each installation. You can take the cash, put it towards your own system, invest it in another neighbour’s system, or donate it to a community project - whatever suits you.
Can I step back if I change my mind later?
Of course - this is fully a voluntary commitment. All we ask is that you communicate with us. If this is too much for you right now, no worries! Let us know and we can hit pause.
What if I complete my street?
We love the enthusiasm! If you manage to get your whole street signed up for renewables, first we might have a little party. Then, we may work with you to identify similar streets locally where you could direct your energy.
